Avis Harris serves as the Director of the Women’s & Children’s Division at United Regional Health Care System. She recently relocated to the Wichita Falls area from Austin, Texas, bringing more than 45 years of nursing experience dedicated to caring for mothers, newborns, and families.

A lifelong healthcare leader, Avis is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in nursing and holds dual master’s degrees in nursing administration and theology/ministry. Her unique combination of clinical expertise, leadership, and faith-based education reflects her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Known for her resilience, Avis believes in the transformative power of women supporting one another. She is passionate about fostering sisterhood, encouraging personal and professional growth, and creating opportunities for women to unite, uplift one another, and use their voices to inspire positive change. Through collaboration, advocacy, and service, she empowers women to lead with confidence, purpose, and compassion.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Avis is deeply committed to serving the community and advocating for individuals and families in need. She strives to improve healthcare outcomes, support vulnerable populations, and make a lasting impact throughout the Wichita Falls community and beyond. Avis has been an active participant and member of Impact 100 for the past 3 years, serving on the grant committee and in zone activities. Eager to serve.
